Training: Adapting Vroom Content

Module 3: Adaptation Limitations

Adaptation Limitations

Parameters for Vroom Approval

We trust your organization to adapt Vroom Content in a way that will be most impactful for your community. However, any adaptation of Vroom Content and any and all uses of Vroom Trademarks must be reviewed by the Bezos Family Foundation prior to publication.

When you sign an A.L.T. Vroom Content License, you agree that, prior to any use or distribution, adaptations will be provided to the Foundation for review and feedback. These should clearly indicate where any changes have been made for format or localization (both in the language into which the content has been translated as well as an English back-translation, where appropriate). This will allow the Foundation to ensure the integrity of our values and the core science behind the content.

Keep in Mind

We’ll share our content adaptation templates after we approve your application. You should probably plan on at least a round or two of back-and-forth for us to share our feedback.

Parameters for Adapting Content and Developing Your Materials

  • Proper attribution and application of co-branding is required in all use of Vroom Content.

  • Use of the Vroom Content and other Vroom Materials is approved only for noncommercial purposes. As a core tenant of Vroom, we make these tools freely available for families and expect Licensees to do the same. This means, among other things, that the Vroom Content cannot be used as part of a sales or funding pitch without the express permission of the Foundation, cannot be sold or otherwise distributed in exchange for value (whether distributed as standalone content or as incorporated into other organizational content.) While, in some instances, Vroom Content can be included in packaging for consumer goods, in curriculum, or other paid products or services, this can only be done with express written permission from the Bezos Family Foundation.

  • Unless permitted in the detailed guidance, do not use the Bezos Family Foundation name, trademarks, or other logos without written permission of the Foundation.

  • Do not use the Vroom Content, Vroom Materials, or Vroom Trademarks on any items intended directly for children. Vroom is designed to empower caregivers, and should never be used in a way that directly markets to children. For example, including Vroom Tips on toys or in toy stores is inappropriate.

  • Do not create materials that mimic Vroom Content or Vroom Materials.  Specifically, this license is not meant to allow others to create tools that look and feel as though they’ve come directly from us. Instead, we’d like to support you to embed Vroom Content within your own brand, while retaining the core principles that make Vroom impactful.

Limitations on Association with Vroom and the Bezos Family Foundation

We are excited for you to use the Vroom Content and Materials in your work. As you can appreciate, though, we have to ensure that it is clear that your organization is not directly affiliated with or a part of the Foundation. We want the focus to be on your work. After all, you are the brain-building champion in your community!

To help avoid any confusion, we have created a few guidelines. The following is a set of non-exclusive examples of what NOT to do:

  • Do not combine the Vroom Trademarks with your or any third-party names, trademarks, or logos, unless in a manner specifically authorized in Vroom Content and Attribution Guidelines (See Attribution and Logo Lockups in Part 2).
  • Do not use the Vroom Trademarks in a derogatory, disparaging, false, illegal, infringing, or misleading manner.
  • Do not use the Vroom Trademarks to claim or otherwise suggest that the Vroom Content and/or Vroom Materials are compatible with your programming or materials, where they are not.
  • While we encourage your use of the Vroom Content and Vroom Materials, using Vroom Content and Vroom Materials does not create a partnership between your organization and the Foundation. If your use of the Vroom Trademarks or the Vroom Content and Vroom Materials is inaccurate, derogatory, misleading, or distasteful we may provide you with notice or take other action to protect Vroom and/or the Foundation.
  • Do not use the Vroom Trademarks in a manner that suggests that you are endorsed by, approved by, or otherwise affiliated with the Bezos Family Foundation.
